She's Here!

Here's the story..... Last Tuesday (the 12th) I had my 39 week doctor's appointment. My doctor checked me and said I was thinned and dialated to a 4. She said she was on call that day for deliveries and wouldn't be again till the next weekend so we decided to just induce me that day. So, we went home to grab the hospital bag and my mom came and stayed with Jax at our house while Tim and I went back to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at about 12:30 and they started me on the petocin at about 1:15. After about 30 minutes my doctor came in and told us she was concerned that our baby's heartrate was dropping. She said she wanted to keep monitoring it for awhile and see what happens. At 2:00 she broke my water to help me dialate faster. Then 5 minutes later the babies heartrate still wasn't improving so she came in to tell us we needed to do an emergency c-section to get her out as soon as possible. I was so upset, the thought of having a c-section never even crossed my mind because my delivery with Jaxon was so easy. Then I was wheeled down to the surgery room, got the epidural, layed down, went numb, and a few minutes later I heard the cry of this sweet baby girl......

On Thursday morning, we were waiting in our hospital room for them to finish up some tests and discharge Whitney and I so we could go home. Then the nurse came in and said they found a murmer in Whitney's heart. Tim and I didn't know much about it at first but as the pediatrician started explaining it to us we both got very scared about what to expect. She said Whitney had an enlarged heart and the murmer was being caused by a hole in the heart. Tim and I both lost it. The hospital we were at didn't have a NICU or the equipement to check on her heart so at just 2 days old, our poor baby had to be transfered by ambulance to Primary Children's Hospital. My parents met Tim and I at Primary's which was wonderful because we were both so upset we needed their support to help calm us down. Once we got there, Whitney was checked by 2 cardiologists and 3 other pediatricians. Then they left the room so they could talk and they came back with some uplifting news. They could tell what it was just by listening to her chest so Whitney didn't have to have an echo, which is like an ultrasound on her heart. They said that there is a small hole in between the 2 bottom chambers on her heart but it is pretty common in babies and they said the valve should close and it should heal itself in the next couple of weeks. PHEW!!! What a relief to hear after being so terrified all day long, I'm so grateful she's okay!

Her hands were too small so they had to put her IV in her head. Poor thing :(

After they discharged her from Primarys we were FINALLY able to go home! We were so excited to bring her home to her big brother. The hospital wouldn't let anyone under 14 go into the labor and delivery unit because of flu season so we hadn't seen Jax for a few days and were missing him like crazy! Since we've been home he has been so amazing with Whitney. He is constantly hugging and kissing her, and he is such a great helper. She is so lucky to have him, I have a feeling these 2 are going to be very close! I feel so blessed and I couldn't ask for more!

Our Christmas!

We had such an amazing Christmas this year! We were all very spoiled and had a lot of time to spend with family and friends. We couldn't ask for anything better than that. Hope you all had a good Christmas too!

On Christmas Eve, we went over to my Grandma's house for dinner and for our gift exchange with my cousins. Here's a picture of the boys helping their Great Grandpa Hamilton hand out gifts.

We attempted to leave Santa a plate of cookies but once these guys saw them, they ate them all themselves. Here they are at midnight eating all Santa's cookies before they headed off to bed.
